On Wednesday 1st March we very proudly hosted a group of five Egyptian Teachers at Oaklands. Tamar, Emad, Rania, Soad and Farag had an Introductory tour and talk about the school by Mrs Osborne then spent time in classes. They were here to learn about our teaching strategies, particularly relating to Technology and teaching English. They learnt about why and how some of our pupils use ipads or other simple assistive technology equipment to support them with their communication needs. Our visitors experienced a range of lessons, from a music session to develop listening skills and group work, to Literacy and Attention Autism sessions. They thoroughly enjoyed the day and commented on the calm atmosphere in the school and the effective teamwork to support each individual child. Some of our children had prepared questions to ask our visitors when they came in to the classes, and it was valuable for the children to speak to them and listen to their answers. We thoroughly enjoyed their visit.
The visit had been organised by the School of Education at the University of Leicester.
