Educational Psychologist

City psychology service

Leicester city psychology service provides a service for children and young people aged from 0 to 25 and is focused on children and young people who represent the following priorities for the local authority:

  • children and young people with complex special educational needs and/or disability (SEND)
  • children and young people at risk of mental health difficulties
  • children in care
  • children and young people involved in the youth justice system
  • pupils in danger of permanent exclusion from school

Educational psychologists (EPs) work in early years’ settings, schools, community settings and family homes.  At Oaklands our Educational psychologist is Rebecca Crompton.

EPs have training in child development and psychology and work in partnership with parents, carers, setting/school staff and other professionals to support the development, learning and emotional well-being of children and young people.

All the EPs in the service are registered with the health and care professions council and have undergone an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check to work with children and young people.

More information about the city psychology service is available on their webpages; telephone 0116 4545470 or email psychology@leicester.gov.uk
