Full Time SEND Class Teacher sought

 Temporary until 31/08/2020

Pay Range MPS/ UPR and 1 SEN Allowance

Oaklands School is a welcoming, growing special needs primary school specialising in working with children with ASD and language & communication difficulties. We are a Good school on the path to becoming an outstanding one, according to Ofsted, having been re-inspected in January 2018. We have become an Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence and work closely with the National Autism Society. The staff and children are friendly and our teamwork closely to ensure all our children meet their full potential, academically, personally and socially. We have developed three distinctive curriculum pathways to meet the needs of our children and our own assessment system OPAL which enable us to measure and celebrate the small steps of the progress our wonderful children make. The position is temporary for two terms initially.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher to develop their own teaching skills and knowledge of SEND.

We are looking for:

  • A kind, calm and enthusiastic teacher who will lead a class team of 1 Level 3 Teaching Assistant and 3 Level 2 Teaching Assistants

  • A teacher who is highly organised, flexible and committed to the progress of every child regardless of their starting points or barriers

We can offer:

  1. A supportive team used to work together

  2. The opportunity to work within a distinctive curriculum pathway supported by expert colleagues and an experienced Pathway Leader

  3. Excellent opportunities for continuing professional development

  4. A friendly and stimulating environment in which to work

Oaklands School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to adhere to this commitment. A current valid DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) Certificate is essential for this post.

Two professional references are required and they will be requested prior to the interview if you are selected. Character references are not acceptable.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged.
