Engagement for every child, in every environment, with irresistible invitations to learn.
At Oaklands School, we believe that our curriculum should be rich, varied, creative and challenging in order to engage and motivate our children. We strive to meet the needs of each child to enable them to fulfil their potential. We have developed a curriculum which we feel reflects the needs and learning styles of our pupils. It has been developed in response to our current pupil population, and after listening to the pupils themselves, their families, staff and other professionals.
Our thematic school curriculum includes some of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) themes which we feel have been successfully used to inspire learning at the school. However, it also incorporates many ‘Out and About’ themes and School Designed topics, to engage pupils in real-life learning opportunities, developing the ‘functional’ life skills and understanding our pupils will require as they move on to secondary schools and beyond.
