In the second half of Autumn Term we were very busy! We started a new topic ‘Maps and Plans’ and learnt all abut reading maps, using coordinates to locate things on a map, writing and plotting coordinates and using maps to find different locations. We also created a 3D class map of a treasure island.

In Numeracy we did lots of work on addition, subtraction and multiplication and we learnt the properties and features of 3D shapes. We also learnt how to recognise every day objects as 3D shapes.

In Literacy we read the story ‘Pirates love Underpants’. We created our own Pirate characters and wrote ‘wanted’ posters for them. We also wrote letters to Santa asking for our favourite toys. For Children in Need we created posters to advertise all the fun activities happening at school and we designed our own Children in Need t-shirts.

In PE we were learning how to play team games. We learnt the skills involved in volleyball and played some volleyball matches, which was really fun! We also practised our football skills and learnt how to dribble and pass the ball.

In cooking we made lots of different things, practising our weighing and measuring skills and using recipes to follow the instructions. We also did some pumpkin carving for Halloween!

At the end of term we went on a class trip to Twinlakes and it was really good fun! We held some snakes, went on the rides and visited Santa in his grotto. We also had a visit from Santa at school and Singing Hands came in to sing Christmas songs with everyone.
