Welcome to Hares!
About our class
We have PE on a Tuesday afternoon, so please make sure we have kit in school for this, we will send it home for you at the end of each half term.
Our topic lessons follow the IPC curriculum and we do a 3 year rolling programme so that children aren’t doing the same topics each year.
The children have settled back into class well, after a lovely Christmas break and are looking forward to the Spring Term topics.
The children will continue to take part in P.E on a Tuesday, so please make sure they have their kit in school on this day. This term we are doing gymnastics.
Our IPC Topics
In the first half of Spring Term we will be learning all about the North Pole and exploring ice as we complete a topic called “Freeze It: Polar Explorers”. We will also be visiting Tesco as we learn about “Going to the Supermarket” in our Out and About Topic.
In the second half term, we will be learning about jobs as we complete a topic called “Jobs: When I Grow Up”. In this topic we will be talking about our dream jobs, taking part in a mock interview and meeting a range of professionals including a Gardener, Fire Fighter and Police Officer. To complete the Spring Term we will be learning all about the Royal Family, working with our peer class to organise a Royal garden party, where parents will be invited!
We have started to go to Forest School in small groups every other week, we have all the equipment the children need in school although they are welcome to bring in their own willies if they wish! They are really enjoying the opportunity to learn in the outdoors, developing a range of skills in a new, exciting environment.
Over the Winter Term, the children learnt how to play a range of playground games including “What’s the Time Mr Wolf”, “Duck, Duck, Goose” and “Red Light, Green Light” which all the children thoroughly enjoyed and are now using daily on the playground during outdoor learning.
Literacy and Numeracy
Our Literacy Sensory Stories this term are “The Great Explorer” and “The Queen’s Knickers”, we will be taking part in lots of fun activities to help us develop our reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.
In Numeracy we will be learning about using money, giving and following directions and the concept of “more” through lots of practical activities, whilst securing our understanding of the number system.
We will also be working on each child’s individual areas of development through small group and 1:1 activities daily.
